What should you look for in new construction homes? There are three main factors to focus on:
- Determine the future growth of the area. If you are looking at a lot that is adjacent to an open space, ask your agent if that space will remain open or if it is slated for development. The future of that space will impact the resale of your home.
- Features of the property. Certain features are considered standard with each home, while others are considered upgrades. Model homes often have upgrades which would put you over your purchase price, so talk with your agent in order to know which features actually come with the home.
- The home warranty. New construction homes typically come with a one-year home warranty. Talk to your agent so that you understand exactly what that warranty covers.
