SkatePark in Grand Junction – Locals Unite

Heard some recent news that some local skateboarding veterans are uniting to help open a legitimate skatepark in Grand Junction. While Grand Junction offers many local activities ranging from mountain biking, rafting, fly-fishing and wineries, there is an obvious void in good skateparks. Local veteran skater and owner of Bin 707 Foodbar, Josh Niernberg said the existing parks are simply inadequate, unmaintained and dangerous. Many of these veteran skaters have to leave the area to find good skateparks. One proposed location is the park downtown by the new safety building and the Grey Hound bus station. The park is largely under-utilized due in part to a heavy presence of vagrants.
